Classroom programs are designed to bring research into your classroom wherever you may be, by connecting virtually. Teachers are supported through the program with lessons and resources as well as opportunites to connect to the CLS. These programs can be short-term or long-term depending on what the teacher and their class needs. In our TREE program, students participate in citizen science by sending samples to be included in a larger data pool. 

 


The TREE program offers primary and secondary students across Canada a chance to take part in a national research program to study the environmental history of their own community. The MAD Lab (Mistik Askîwin Dendrochronology Lab at the University of Saskatchewan) and CLS are working together to look at tree growth and chemistry through tree cores and soil samples. LiSSE is an engaging opportunity for high school students to experience a scientific investigation of everyday science that connects to classroom curriculum. We have made lessons and resources to aid educators in providing background knowledge to students before they take on an investigation. Beam LiSSE and Problem-Based LiSSE are available, each giving the opportunity for students to hear from CLS staff on their careers, and providing the ability for educators and their students to come to the CLS or do an investigation virtually where CLS Education Team connects to your classroom in live sessions.
Undergraduate Research Program offers an opportunity for post-secondary students to take part in their own research offered through a course. For a classroom program, these students would do an investigation virtually. The Education Team will work with you to make sure that the educational outcomes are met, and your students get the best experience in understanding what research is about.
