Welcome!

The fifth Synchrotron Environmental Science meeting will be held in Saskatoon on Thursday, June 23 and Friday, June 24, 2011 at the University of Saskatchewan. Continuing the tradition established by previous SES conferences, SES V will bring together a diverse community of environmental and synchrotron scientists. Thursday's agenda will include presentations from environmental science leaders and will explore emerging frontiers in environmental science and the role synchrotron science can play in solving our global environmental problems.  SES V will focus on geochemical aspects of contaminants in many different types of mining environments, power generation and remediation. On Friday, there may be the opportunity to go on an optional tour of a potash mine in the morning followed by an afternoon session highlighting facility updates at the synchrotrons throughout North America. SES V will provide introductory-level talks for new and prospective users. Environmental science researchers new to synchrotron radiation are strongly encouraged to attend.

To enhance your SES V experience, you may also want to consider applying to attend the Canadian Synchrotron Summer School (CS3) June 19-22, 2011 which will provide hands-on sessions and this year's focus is on Environmental Science. (http://www.lightsource.ca/education/summerschool/)
