Pan-American SRI History

The Canadian Light Source is pleased to host MEDSI/SRI 2008.  This is the first time that these two conferences have been held jointly.  This is also the first time that the conference formerly known as the National SRI Conference has been held outside of the United States.  That conference is now known as the Pan-American SRI Conference, in recognition of the participation of synchrotrons from Brazil and Canada.  This has been traditionally a biannual conference, and is now in its 15^th incarnation.  It alternates with the triennial International SRI Conference.  In case all of this is confusing, here is the schedule of recent and planned meetings:

The goal of Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation meetings is to promote exchange and collaboration among scientists and engineers associated with synchrotron research facilities, through presentations and discussions concerning the production and utilization of synchrotron radiation.
