The SRI2008 Conference Proceedings will be published in the Elsevier journal Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A. Following SRI tradition, each conference presentation, oral or poster, is expected to be represented in the Conference Proceedings. However, manuscripts that are essentially no more than the abstract of the presentation will not be accepted for publication. For copyright reasons, manuscripts cannot be accepted if they have been published elsewhere or are expected to be published elsewhere. Papers are limited to 3 journal pages for contributed papers, and 5 pages for Invited Talks. A copy of the printed proceedings will be mailed to each conference registrant who indicated they wished to receive the proceedings and has paid the registration fee.
For a presentation to be considered for publication at least one author must be a registered conference participant.
Submission Guide
- Authors must submit two hardcopies of their manuscripts to the Proceedings Office on the first day of the conference, June 11, 2008. The manuscript should be a single column format with the figures and tables appended at the end of the manuscript. No manuscript will be accepted after the conference concludes.
- All manuscripts will be reviewed according to the standards of NIMS:A. Primary authors will receive referee’s comments by e-mail, together with a request for a revised manuscript, if applicable. The final decision on acceptance rests with the editors of the special edition of NIMS:A..
- The final version of the manuscript in electronic form should be submitted by email (detailed submission guide will be provided by e-mail).
Manuscript Preparation
The length of the paper is three-printed pages for all presentations (except five pages for invited speakers). The manuscript should be submitted in single column / double-spaced format.
Detailed guidelines about manuscript preparation are provided at the Publisher’s website (elsevier.com). The format, font and layout are the same for the proceedings as the regular issue of the journal. The illustrations and tables should be prepared following the Publisher’s guidelines. One to four classification codes (PACS 2003) and up to six key words of author’s choice should be listed. Please note that no online utility (template) is available at the Publisher’s site for the present proceedings.
Examples of NIMS:A articles can be obtained here for your reference - the SRI2007 proceedings is volume 582, issue 1. Please note that the page-length is limited and authors are asked to calculate the manuscript length very carefully. Typically,
- a three-page manuscript will have 1400 words;
- a five-page manuscript will have 2500 words;
- each single-column figure or table, about one and a half inches (3.8 cm) in height, will reduce the word count by 150 words.
Color illustration is acceptable with additional expense charged to the author at the rate of approximately $800 per page. The exact color-page charge will be known when entire Proceedings manuscript is complete.
