Tip Sheet:
MASR 2007
Medical researchers and synchrotron scientists from around the world are converging on Saskatoon from August 26 to 30 for the 2007 Medical Applications of Synchrotron Radiation conference (MASR 2007) at the University of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Light Source.
Held every 3 years, the conference is a chance for scientists to discuss the most recent advances in using synchrotron light for medical imaging, studying and treating diseases such as cancer. The conference will also showcase the $17 million BioMedical Imaging and Therapy (BMIT) facility, currently under construction at the Canadian Light Source, as well as the active medical and life science research community at the University of Saskatchewan.
The complete schedule, including links to presenter biographies and abstracts is available here. The conference is divided into thematic sessions:
- Technical Basics: Monday August 27, 9 am to 12:20 pm
- X-ray Imaging: Monday, 1:30 to 5:30 pm
- Pathology: Tuesday August 28, 8:30 am to Noon
- Oncology and Radiation Biology: Tuesday, 1 to 5 pm
- Radiology: Wednesday, August 29, 8:30 am to Noon
- Challenges to Medical Applications of Synchrotron Radiation: Thursday, 10 am to Noon
All conference presentations take place in Room 106 of the Biology Building, 112 Science Place, University of Saskatchewan Campus. To make arrangements to attend a talk or interview a researcher, contact Matthew Dalzell, (306) 657-3739, cell: 227-0978.
