Caption: The image shows a micro-motor with precise micron-sized gear pitch and a few millimetres in thickness manufactured using a synchrotron technique called X-ray lithography. These miniature devices find extensive use in space applications and in the field of micro-robotics. These applications require small, tall, and highly precise motors for generation of high rotational force. They are also becoming increasingly popular in the biomedical and telecommunication applications for use as medical implants and micro-mirrors for optical switching.
