3. Liquid Helium Leak Repaired
Contact: thomas.Ellis@lightsource.ca
We are very pleased to report that the leak in the helium transfer line reported in the May 2007 issue of E-News was successfully repaired on Friday, June 1 and the RF cavity was fully filled by Thursday, June 7. Machine start-up and ring conditioning continued smoothly. Normal user operations resumed as planned on July 7 and have been proceeding well, with the exception of a city-wide power outage Friday, July 20.
CLSI would like to recognize the dedication and hard work of the staff members and contractors who worked long hours to resolve this problem, and thank the users who were affected for their patience and understanding.

6. Storage Ring Update
Contact: les.dallin@lightsource.ca
The storage ring is now tuned to have more horizontal dispersion in the straight sections. With this setup the horizontal emittance is reduced from 18 to 14 nm-rad. The storage ring is now also tuned to have a slightly higher vertical tune.
The increase in the vertical tune results in lower transverse coupling. The overall effect is to decrease both the horizontal and vertical beam sizes resulting in an overall increase of the machine brilliance of about 20%.
