Training Workshop: XANES & RXD Calculations using FDMNES Code

May 4th & 5th, 2011
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

CLS is pleased to collaborate with the Institut Néel (Centre National de la Recherché Scientifique & L'université Joseph Fourier) to offer this workshop designed for synchrotron light users experienced with X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Structure (XANES) or Resonant X-ray Diffraction (RXD). Dr. Yves Joly and Dr. Oana Bunau will focus on the theoretical simulation of XANES & RXD spectra  using  the ab initio code, FDMNES. The workshop  will consist of several lectures on the interaction between X-ray and material as well as XANES and  RXD theory. Polarization effect, dichroism, and implications for material properties will also be explored. The afternoons will be devoted to computer sessions on the use of FDMNES for XANES and RXD in different test cases.

The number of participants is limited to 20. Applications will open soon with a deadline of February 28, 2011. For those accepted to participate, there will be a $250 (+ GST) registration fee which will include all resource material, both lunches and a dinner.
