Welcome to the website of Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLS), Canada’s national synchrotron research facility.
Over the last few decades, synchrotron radiation has developed into an invaluable scientific tool for research in areas as diverse as archeology, materials research, earth sciences, and biomedical research, to name a few, and a rapidly growing number of researchers from academia as well as from industry now use synchrotron techniques.
This website is designed to spark your interest in synchrotron- based research and to provide basic information on the scientific program, operations and services available to current and prospective academic and industrial users. Resources are also available for educators, students, members of the media and interested public. For additional information, please do not hesitate to contact the appropriate staff or me directly.
We are committed to being a world-leading centre of excellence in synchrotron science and its applications by working with the scientific community to promote the use of synchrotron light, creating industrial partnerships and innovation, and engaging in scientific and educational outreach.
The CLS is a critical tool for Canadian research and development, in such crucial sectors as environmental science, natural resources and energy, health and life sciences, and information and communications technology. Research done at the CLS holds the promise of improving the quality of life for people everywhere.
We look forward to hearing from you!
